Korea Institute for Senior Employment opens private job-training centers
Centers to link graduates to jobs and lay groundwork for '60+ job platform'
The Korea Institute for Senior Employment on Tuesday opened a network of private job-training centers designed to build a pipeline of workers tailored to specific companies and occupations, with the aim of connecting graduates to employment and laying the groundwork for a "60+ job platform."
The 60+ job platform is a system that assesses participants' experience and competencies and uses AI to recommend and match them with suitable job openings.
The newly opened centers will operate two tracks to strengthen the vocational skills of workers aged 60 and older and promote effective, field-oriented job placement: a company-tailored track and an occupation-tailored track.
The company-tailored track provides job training that reflects the actual hiring needs of participating firms, helping to bridge the gap between employers struggling to fill positions and job seekers. The occupation-tailored track, focused on the care sector, trains senior workers to develop expertise in high-demand areas such as housekeeping, nursing and caregiving.
Through these programs, the institute aims to build a structured pool of workers aged 60 and older, support graduates in entering the workforce through on-site training and job-placement programs, and ultimately establish the 60+ job platform.
"By training workers tailored to specific companies and occupations, we will give older adults the opportunity to improve their employability and become the most reliable partner for companies facing hiring difficulties," Korea Institute for Senior Employment President Kim Su-yeong said. "We will also use the operation of these private job-training centers to build a solid foundation for successfully establishing the 60+ job platform in the future."
