Gallery Belvi in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, is hosting the group exhibition "Our Hour: Aureu-neun Sigan" featuring works by Yoo Su-ji, Choi Ji-hyeon and Hwanhui through Oct. 10. The show grew out of a desire to create a time and space that embraces one another, presenting works in which each artist encompasses different subjects in her own distinct way.
Yoo Su-ji weaves together the boundaries of the world, natural objects and human figures in a fairy-tale-like manner. Her canvases, rendered in rough yet pure brushstrokes, carry emotions and the textures of everyday life. Choi Ji-hyeon assembles small fragments to build a single forest, capturing the varied stories of today. Her figures — animals and people drawn without preliminary sketches — reflect shared human experience. Hwanhui revisits warmth through cotton flowers that recur throughout her series "Onhwa." Cotton blossoms heaped in a rice bowl layer up memories of family love, while multiple coats of brushwork express the warmth of an embrace.
