Mapo-gu District Mayor Yoo Dong-kyun visited Aehyeon Market on Thursday afternoon ahead of the chuseok holiday to shop at the traditional market.
Yoo toured the market, listening to vendors share their experiences during the busy holiday season, and greeted residents who had come out to shop.
He then purchased holiday essentials — including tteokguk rice cakes, fruit sets, kimchi, samgyeopsal gift sets and assorted jeon — adding to the market's festive energy.
At a donation ceremony that followed, he presented the purchased goods to the Mapo Welfare Foundation, underscoring the spirit of sharing that defines chuseok.
"I hope that visiting the market ahead of the holiday gives strength to the vendors and brings warm holiday gifts to our neighbors," Yoo said. "I encourage all residents to visit their nearby traditional markets and share in the warmth and abundance of chuseok together."
