Jungnang-gu announces that areas with Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday collection may resume disposal from Sept. 27, while Monday, Wednesday and Friday areas may do so from Sept. 28
Jungnang-gu has announced adjusted household waste disposal schedules for the Chuseok holiday period and will operate a dedicated sanitation response system throughout the break.
Waste collection will be suspended for two days — Sept. 24 and 25 — due to the closure of the Nowon Resource Recovery Facility and the Greater Seoul landfill site.
As a result, residents in areas with Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday collection will not be able to put out general waste, food waste or recyclables on Sept. 24, while those in Monday, Wednesday and Friday collection areas must hold their waste until after Sept. 25.
Regular disposal will resume Sept. 27 for Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday collection areas, and Sept. 28 for Monday, Wednesday and Friday areas. Large-item waste — including home appliances and furniture — may be put out from Sept. 28 in all areas.
The district will operate a sanitation control center and a rapid-response team throughout the holiday to address any inconvenience caused by the adjusted schedule. Patrols will also be stepped up in areas prone to illegal dumping, including major arterial roads and high-traffic public facilities, to deter unauthorized disposal and maintain clean streetscapes.
Jungnang-gu District Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi said the district would do its utmost to keep the neighborhood clean throughout the Chuseok holiday. "We ask residents to observe the designated disposal dates and join us in keeping our streets tidy," he said.
