Daegu Mayor Choo Kyung-ho presented appointment certificates Thursday to Han Geun-su, the new president of Daegu Transportation Corporation, and Lee Jae-yong, the new president of Daegu Urban Development Corporation, at the mayor's office in the Sanggyeok administrative complex.
Both appointments take effect Friday and run for three years.
The two incoming presidents appeared before city council confirmation hearings on Sept. 8 and Sept. 9, where they outlined their management philosophies and plans for addressing key issues at their respective agencies.
Han said he would make safety on the urban rail network his top priority and work to deliver transit services centered on the needs of residents.
Lee said he would draw on 36 years of experience in urban development to strike a balance between the public interest and profitability, and pursue new growth opportunities through change and innovation.
"Both organizations are core public enterprises responsible for residents' daily lives and the region's development," Choo said. "I hope they will produce results that citizens can feel and establish themselves as public enterprises that earn the public's trust through accountable management."
