Follow-up to state visit last November; greetings to be conveyed to UAE president
Kang Hoon-sik holds separate talks, lunch; high-level exchanges and space cooperation expansion on agenda
President Lee Jae Myung will meet Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority and the UAE's top official overseeing cooperation with South Korea, at Cheong Wa Dae on Friday afternoon.
Cheong Wa Dae said Lee will sit down with Khaldoon at 2 p.m. to review the practical cooperation outcomes the two countries have actively pursued since Lee's state visit to the UAE in November 2025, and to convey his regards to UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Khaldoon is the UAE's key power broker overseeing all-around cooperation with South Korea and one of the country's most prominent Korea-friendly figures.
Before calling on Lee, Khaldoon will hold separate talks and lunch with Presidential Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik, the South Korean side's designated point person on UAE affairs. The two sides plan to exchange in-depth views on expanding cooperation across a broad range of areas — including high-level personnel exchanges, defense and the defense industry, AI, culture, nuclear power and the space industry — as well as other key issues of mutual interest.
