WJSN's Seola apologizes over AI handwritten letter allegations, reposts note in her own hand

Seola of girl group WJSN has apologized after allegations surfaced that she used AI to generate a handwritten letter she posted while announcing her departure from the agency she had been with for 15 years. She subsequently deleted the original post and reposted a letter written in her own hand.

On Friday, Seola wrote on her social media: "I thought posting it in a more legible format would make it easier to read, since my handwriting is uneven and hard to follow — but I realize now that was shortsighted of me. I will be more careful about everything going forward. I'm sorry."

The day before, Seola had announced she was leaving Starship Entertainment, the agency she had been with since her debut 15 years ago, sharing a lengthy handwritten letter with fans.

The letter drew scrutiny online, with users pointing to unnatural letterforms and multiple misspellings — including "enterteainment" instead of "entertainment" and "baeyum" instead of "baeum" — raising suspicions that she had used AI or a similar tool to convert her handwriting digitally.

As the controversy grew, Seola moved quickly to apologize, reposting what appeared to be a letter in her actual handwriting.

Meanwhile, Seola debuted as a WJSN member in 2016 and built a wide following for her visuals. She has also pursued an acting career since appearing in the 2022 film "Urban Myths."
