YouTube show 'Halmyeongsu' went on hiatus because of JTBC? Park Myung-soo: 'It went bankrupt'

Broadcaster Park Myung-soo has candidly revealed that the two-month hiatus of his YouTube variety show "Halmyeongsu" was a direct result of JTBC's financial difficulties.

Broadcaster Jeon Min-gi appeared as a guest on KBS Cool FM's "Park Myung-soo's Radio Show," which aired Friday.

During the broadcast, while going through keywords related to Park, the pair brought up "Halmyeongsu," which had recently returned after a roughly two-month break.

The show is produced by JTBC Digital Studio and had abruptly gone on hiatus starting in July.

It made its comeback Saturday with a video titled "Who came back from prison??? Did you think we were done? Halmyeongsu is back in business."

Jeon said a heartwarming story about Park had also made headlines at the time, saying Park had given the production staff pocket money. Park pushed back with a laugh, saying, "Who gives that much pocket money? That's not right."

When Jeon added that comments were full of people asking, "Why did you take so long to come back?", Park replied with a grin, "It went bankrupt — that's why. It went bankrupt."

Earlier, JTBC failed to repay its securitized loans by their maturity date in June and filed for court receivership along with other Joongang Group affiliates. The Seoul Bankruptcy Court then decided in August to open rehabilitation proceedings for JTBC, and the broadcaster has since been working through the process of normalizing its operations.
