Various chuseok events at markets through Tuesday, with Onuri gift voucher refunds of up to 20,000 won based on purchase amount
Seoul's Eunpyeong-gu will hold a series of chuseok holiday events at traditional markets through Tuesday, offering discounts and free gifts to shoppers ahead of the major autumn holiday.
The events are designed to ease the financial burden of holiday shopping for residents while boosting foot traffic at local markets. Participating markets will offer discounts on ritual food offerings and other key items, free gifts with purchase, and Onuri gift voucher refunds to help energize the local commercial district.
The market-by-market schedule runs as follows: Daelim Market from Wednesday through Friday, Jeil Market from Thursday through Saturday, and Daelim Golmok Market from Monday through Tuesday. All participating markets will provide discounts on select items and free gifts for customers.
Yeonseo Market will host a "Donghang Festival" event from Wednesday through Friday, offering prizes and Onuri gift vouchers through a spinning-wheel lottery to customers who spend 20,000 won or more.
From Wednesday through Sunday, a separate Onuri paper gift voucher refund program will also run based on purchase amount. The program covers customers buying domestic agricultural, livestock and fishery products at Daejo Market, and domestic seafood at Daelim Golmok Market.
Shoppers who spend between 34,000 won and less than 67,000 won will receive a 10,000 won voucher refund, while those spending 67,000 won or more will receive 20,000 won in Onuri gift vouchers.
"I hope this event gives residents a chance to ease the burden of holiday shopping and enjoy the many benefits our traditional markets have to offer," Eunpyeong-gu District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung said. "We will continue to provide diverse support to strengthen the competitiveness of traditional markets and bring vitality to the local commercial district."
