Nowon-gu District Mayor Seo Jun-oh attended the "2026 Walk-Friendly Nowon" walking event Saturday morning at the lawn grounds of the visitor center at Gyeongchun Forest Park.
The event was organized to promote residents' health and spread a walking culture in everyday life. The route covered a 5-kilometer round trip along walking paths through Gyeongchun Forest Park and the area around Hwarangdae Station, allowing residents to enjoy nature within the city while staying active.
About 600 people took part, including District Mayor Seo, National Assembly members, Seoul city and district council members, representatives from 34 sports organizations and 19 neighborhood sports associations, walking clubs, and residents enrolled in the Smart Nowon Fit program.
After an opening ceremony and warm-up exercises, participants set off from the visitor center lawn at Gyeongchun Forest Park and walked the 5-kilometer round-trip course to Hwarangdae Station and back. The event also featured prize draws, commemorative photo opportunities and souvenir giveaways.
Seo posed for photos with participants before signaling the start of the walk, greeting residents and cheering them on as they set off.
"I hope this becomes a time to look after your health and enjoy Nowon's beautiful paths alongside your neighbors in the cool autumn weather," Seo said. "We will continue to build an environment where anyone can comfortably walk and stay healthy as part of their daily lives."
