Actor Lee Mi-sook: 'I'm scared my daughter-in-law might show up' for chuseok

Actor Lee Mi-sook has said she would never put her future daughter-in-law to work preparing holiday food.

A video titled "Lee Mi-sook-style mandu for chuseok — we made dumplings and had a great time!" was posted to her YouTube channel Friday.

While making the mandu filling that day, Lee laughed and said, "I feel like these are things I never even did when I was a daughter-in-law myself."

She then brought up her future daughter-in-law, saying, "I would never make my daughter-in-law or anyone like that do something like this."

She added, with a playful air, "I'm scared my daughter-in-law might show up," and went on to say, "I'd just tell you all to get along among yourselves."

Lee drew laughs when she said, "I won't even call her over for the holidays — I'll tell her to go travel. I'm busy during the holidays."

She also addressed, in her characteristically candid style, the way family gatherings around holiday cooking can lead to nagging and arguments.

While folding mandu, Lee found herself showering those around her with unsolicited advice, prompting someone to tell her, "This has become less of a dumpling-making session and more of a nagging session."

"That's just how it is," she said, noting that when families get together to cook, all kinds of talk naturally flow — "That's why there are so many fights around chuseok and the holidays."

Lee married a plastic surgeon in 1987 but divorced after 20 years. She has a son and a daughter.
