Kim Kyung-seok, president of the Korea Roller Sports Federation, will serve as deputy chief of mission for the South Korean national team at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, the federation said Saturday. The federation added that this marks the first time it has taken on such a senior role at a major multi-sport international event, including the Asian Games.
According to the federation, Kim departed Incheon International Airport with the main delegation on Thursday and has since arrived in Nagoya. He plans to visit venues across the games to cheer on and encourage South Korean athletes throughout the competition. Kim is scheduled to remain with the main delegation from the opening ceremony through the closing ceremony before returning to South Korea.
"Both personally and on behalf of the federation, serving as deputy chief of mission for the South Korean national team at the Asian Games is a deeply honorable duty," Kim said. "I will do my utmost during the games to be of help to our national team."
Kim also sent words of encouragement to the national skateboarding team in his capacity as Korea Roller Sports Federation president. "I regret that my duties as deputy chief of mission will keep me from being with the skateboarding team during the competition, but I ask that you give everything you have so that you can deliver a joyful chuseok gift to the Korean people during the holiday period," he said.
