North Gyeongsang Province lines up cultural events for Chuseok holiday

A range of traditional cultural events and festivals will be held across North Gyeongsang Province during the Chuseok holiday.

According to the provincial government, Sangju Museum (Sept. 24-27), Gyeongsan City Museum (Sept. 26), Cheongdo Museum (Sept. 24) and Yecheon Museum (Sept. 19-20) will host traditional Korean music performances, folk games such as yutnori and tuho, and songpyeon rice cake-making activities.

Hahoe Village in Andong (Sept. 26-27) will stage reenactments of traditional lifestyle and culture alongside hands-on artisan workshops, while Yangdong Village in Gyeongju (Sept. 25-26) will offer tuho and yutnori. Sosu Seowon Confucian Academy in Yeongju (Sept. 24-26) will feature traditional folk music and performances by cultural artists.

The 2026 Andong International Mask Dance Festival — designated a global festival by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism — opens during the Chuseok holiday and runs through Oct. 4 at Jungang Line 1942 Andong Station, Talnori Park and the Hahoe Village area. The program includes domestic and international mask dance performances and a world mask dance competition.

At Hoban Square in Gyeongju's Bomun tourism complex (Sept. 24-26), family-friendly programs will be offered, including mood light and keychain crafting and a treasure hunt. Expo Grand Park (Sept. 24-25) will host traditional folk games, a taekwondo performance and a classical vocal healing concert.

"We have prepared a rich lineup of cultural events throughout North Gyeongsang Province where families can enjoy traditional culture, World Heritage sites and festivals together during the Chuseok holiday," said Park Chan-woo, director general of culture, tourism and sports for the province. "We hope families will spend a joyful and meaningful holiday in North Gyeongsang Province."
