Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province has named Chuncheon and Sokcho as its recommended travel destinations for September, and Cheorwon and Inje for October.
In Sokcho, the province recommends an autumn wellness itinerary through Seoraksan National Park, followed by stops at Seorak Hyanggi-ro, Cheoksan Hot Springs and Sokcho Tourism and Fisheries Market.
In Chuncheon, a family-friendly autumn route takes in Uiam Park, Sairo 248 and the Animation Museum, among other sites.
In Cheorwon, visitors can head to the Goseokjeong Flower Garden to see 150,000 autumn blooms in full color — including cockscomb, cosmos, sunflowers and globe amaranth.
In Inje, the province recommends hiking amid the fall foliage at Baekdamsa temple and then taking in the scenery, busking performances and hands-on activities at the Inje Autumn Flower Festival.
Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province announced it will launch the autumn edition of the Korea Accommodation Sale Festa from Tuesday through Nov. 8, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization.
The autumn Korea Accommodation Sale Festa offers discounts of up to 70,000 won ($51) on accommodation bookings in the Gangwon region.
Travelers booking a single night at 70,000 won or more receive a 30,000 won discount, while those booking under 70,000 won save 20,000 won. For stays of two or more consecutive nights, a 70,000 won discount applies to bookings totaling 140,000 won or more.
The province is also running the Gangwon Tourism Bingo Challenge during the chuseok holiday period, offering prize draws to tourists who collect stamps at major attractions and traditional markets across the region.
"Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province is, without question, the top destination for autumn foliage travel," said Lee Dong-hee, director of the province's tourism bureau. "We hope visitors take advantage of the discounts through the Korea Accommodation Sale Festa — a joint initiative with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization — and fully enjoy Gangwon's beautiful autumn."
