LG Display launches world's first 24.5-inch 720Hz gaming OLED panel

LG Display announced Monday that it has launched the world's first 24.5-inch 720Hz gaming OLED panel.

The new panel delivers a 720Hz refresh rate and a 0.02-millisecond response time — the highest levels among gaming OLED panels currently available. A 720Hz refresh rate means the screen can update up to 720 times per second, with a proprietary algorithm enabling the rapid frame transitions required to achieve this.

LG Display developed and applied its own algorithm to achieve a seamless 720Hz refresh rate at full HD resolution. The panel dramatically reduces motion blur and ghosting, making it well suited for first-person shooter and racing games.

The panel will be used in a new product from global IT company Asus. It will make its debut in the ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace, which has been selected as the official monitor for the major international esports tournament PGL CS2 Major Singapore 2026.

LG Display plans to begin mass production of the 24.5-inch 720Hz gaming OLED panel and push to establish OLED as the standard in the esports monitor market. The company also plans to lead the broader gaming display market through a full lineup of gaming OLED panels ranging from the 20-inch to the 40-inch class, along with proprietary technologies including DFR (Dynamic Frame Rate and Resolution). LG Display said it will also accelerate AI integration across its gaming display development.

Lee Hyun-woo, head of LG Display's large-format business division, said the company will "lead the shift to OLED in the gaming monitor market and drive OLED's rise as the global standard, staying true to our identity as a technology-driven company."
