Hyundai Glovis volunteers share chuseok spirit with elderly residents ahead of holiday

Hyundai Glovis said Monday it had carried out a series of community outreach activities with elderly residents ahead of the chuseok holiday.

A volunteer team of Hyundai Glovis employees visited the Guro Senior Welfare Center in Guro-gu, Seoul, on Thursday, hosting more than 60 elderly residents for activities including massage sessions, the traditional board game yutnori, songpyeon rice cake making and commemorative photos.

The event was organized to help local seniors enjoy a healthy and festive holiday ahead of chuseok. Employees spent time with the residents, sharing the warmth of the season and building connections across generations.

After the event, staff handed out chuseok gift packages they had prepared. The packages included easy-to-prepare foods such as instant rice, galbi soup, spicy beef soup and dried seaweed, along with traditional holiday snacks including yugwa. Hyundai Glovis also extended the same gift packages to about 700 elderly households across Guro-gu, Nowon-gu and Gangbuk-gu — not just those who attended the event.

Hyundai Glovis has been running a range of community service initiatives. In June, the company created an eco-friendly outdoor play space for children at Seoul Forest. In December last year, it visited elderly people living alone in the Nangok-dong area of Gwanak-gu, Seoul, delivering winter relief supplies and providing companionship.

"We hope this activity brings even a little warmth to the elderly residents in our community as they celebrate chuseok," a Hyundai Glovis official said. "We will continue to carry out outreach activities that offer real, practical help to our neighbors."

Meanwhile, ahead of chuseok, Hyundai Glovis recently decided — together with other major affiliates of Hyundai Motor Group — to pay suppliers of parts, raw materials and consumables up to 23 days earlier than the standard payment date to ease their financial burden during the holiday period.
