Fin.K.L returns as full group for first time in 21 years

First-generation K-pop girl group Fin.K.L is making a comeback with all four members together for the first time in 21 years.

According to Gemstone E&M on Monday, members Lee Hyori, Ok Joo-hyun, Lee Jin and Sung Yuri are preparing to reunite as a full group.

The last time all four performed together was for the digital single "Forever Fin.K.L," released in 2005. The group did reunite in 2019 for JTBC's variety program "Camping Club," releasing music tied to the show, but that was a one-off project built around a broadcast format. This comeback, by contrast, marks a fresh start aimed at sustained activity that carries forward the group's own identity.

Fin.K.L debuted in 1998 with "Blue Rain" and went on to produce a string of era-defining hits including "To My Boyfriend," "Eternal Love" and "Now." The group moved fluidly between tender, lyrical concepts and bold, assertive ones, helping establish the template for the first generation of K-pop girl groups. Their terrestrial broadcast music award wins and broad cross-generational appeal laid the groundwork for the global girl-group system that thrives today.

Over the past two decades, each member carved out a distinct career. Lee Hyori became an irreplaceable trendsetter and solo artist in popular culture, while Ok Joo-hyun rose to the top of the musical theater world as a leading diva. Lee Jin and Sung Yuri expanded their profiles as actors and broadcasters.

Jason Lee, chief executive of Gemstone E&M, which is overseeing the project's planning and management, said Fin.K.L is "a symbolic artist that marked an inflection point in the history of Korean popular music." He added that the agency would "present a variety of activities to create new moments with fans who have waited a long time for Fin.K.L."
