Drunk KBS comedian arrested for assaulting designated driver

A comedian who joined KBS through its open recruitment program was arrested after allegedly assaulting a designated driver while heavily intoxicated. Seoul's Seocho Police Station said Monday it had booked the suspect, identified only by his surname Kim, on charges of assaulting a driver while a vehicle was in motion under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.

Kim is accused of assaulting designated driver A at around 1 a.m. Sunday while drunk. He allegedly grabbed the driver by the neck and shook him.

The assault occurred while A was driving Kim home from Apgujeong-dong in Gangnam-gu. Officers who responded to a report of the incident arrested Kim at the scene and are investigating the full circumstances of the alleged attack.
