Nowon-gu District Mayor Seo Jun-o attended a donation ceremony Monday afternoon at his office, where KB Kookmin Bank presented funds for its chuseok "Traditional Market Love Sharing" project, and expressed his gratitude to those involved.
The event was organized ahead of the chuseok holiday to bring vitality to local traditional markets while delivering support to residents in need. The Traditional Market Love Sharing project — organized by Hope Friend Korea Food for the Hungry International and sponsored by KB Kookmin Bank — is a community-sharing initiative that purchases groceries from traditional markets and distributes them to vulnerable households in the area.
The total donation came to 32 million won ($23,100), with 16 million won allocated to each of Sanggye Jungang Market and Gongneung-dong Dokkaebi Market. The funds were used to assemble 320 food packages sourced from the two markets, which were then delivered to welfare recipients across the district through 19 neighborhood community centers, adding warmth to the holiday season.
Attendees included District Mayor Seo, KB Kookmin Bank Deputy President Choi Wi-jip of the Gangbuk Sales Promotion Group, Nowon Regional Headquarters Director Moon Su-hyeon, Nowon-gu Office Branch Manager Park Ho-seo, Sanggye Station Branch Manager Jeong Sam-geun, Korea Food for the Hungry International Happy Sharing Division Head Han Myeong-sam and coordinator Yoo Ju-man, Sanggye Jungang Market Merchants Association President Kwon Seok-geun, and Gongneung-dong Dokkaebi Market Merchants Association President Oh Hyeong-hwan.
