E-mart launches Chuseok sale with up to 30% off samgyeopsal, Australian beef

E-mart announced Tuesday it will hold a Chuseok holiday sale covering everything from meat to sashimi platters, sushi and meal kits.

The sale runs from Thursday through Sept. 30. Customers who accumulate Shinsegae Points can buy Darling Downs Wagyu, an Australian beef brand, and domestic brand samgyeopsal and pork neck at 30 percent off. Marinated and soy-sauce chicken thigh bulgogi is half price when two or more packs are purchased.

Ready-to-eat items including sashimi platters, sushi and meal kits are also discounted by up to 30 percent. A "special home-party sashimi platter" featuring five or more varieties of fish — including flounder and salmon — and a 30-piece "family sushi" set are each 10,000 won ($7) off with Shinsegae Points. A seafood hot-pot meal kit and Peacock brand spicy and white jjamppong products are 30 percent off under the same conditions.

E-mart will also continue selling Chuseok gift sets through Monday. The lineup centers on "hand-carry" sets designed to be brought along on homecoming visits or family gatherings. A three-pack Shine Muscat grape set, sourced from major growing regions including Gimcheon, Gyeongsan and Sangju, is 30 percent off with a participating card payment.

Dried persimmons produced in Sangju, one of the country's leading persimmon-growing areas, are 40 percent off with a participating card. The retailer has also prepared liquor gift sets — including wine and whisky — which tend to see strong demand as hand-carry gifts in the days just before the holiday.
