GS25 announced Tuesday it has prepared a range of delivery and pickup discount events for the Chuseok holiday.

Convenience store delivery and pickup usage rises during holiday periods, when many other retailers are closed. During last year's Chuseok holiday (Oct. 5–7), delivery orders and sales increased 19.6 percent and 28.1 percent, respectively, compared with the same period the previous month.

Snacks were the most ordered product category, accounting for 16.3 percent of delivery orders, followed by beverages (15.4 percent), ice cream (13.1 percent) and ramyun (7.4 percent). Pickup demand also rose 22.1 percent, driven in part by solo holiday-goers spending Chuseok alone.

Through Yogiyo and Baemin, GS25 will offer a 5,000-won discount on delivery orders of 20,000 won ($14) or more during the holiday period. Through Coupang Eats, customers placing orders of 15,000 won or more will receive a random discount of up to 10,000 won.

Timed to Chuseok and an ongoing summer sports schedule, GS25 will also hold pickup promotions on alcoholic beverages — including beer, soju, highball drinks and makgeolli — as well as a 3,000-won discount on freshly prepared fried chicken. On Chuseok Day itself, customers who buy two Go Pizza items will receive a 50 percent discount.

"During the Chuseok holiday, demand for convenience store delivery and pickup continues to grow steadily — from families to customers spending the holiday on their own," said Jeon Jin-hyeok, head of GS Retail's O4O division.
