North Gyeongsang tourism body to mark Chuseok with events in Gyeongju

The North Gyeongsang Province Cultural Tourism Corporation will hold a series of Chuseok holiday events from Wednesday through Friday at Bomun Lake Square and Gyeongju Expo Grand Park, the corporation announced Tuesday.

At Bomun Lake Square, families can take part in a range of traditional folk game experiences and a participatory treasure hunt.

Additional programs include making traditional mood lamps and other hands-on activities evoking the Chuseok atmosphere, as well as a slow-mail postcard-writing station and other side events.

A lineup of performances — including a magic show — will also be staged to give tourists visiting the Bomun tourism complex during the holiday weekend plenty to see and enjoy.

At Gyeongju Expo Grand Park, visitors can enjoy discounted admission alongside a special program called "Hangawi Hanmadang: A Silla Playtime Adventure with Hwani and Woni."

Activities include traditional games such as yutnori, tuho and jegichagi, an art road experience featuring traditional pattern coloring, a mission-based scavenger hunt across the park, and family team games including a cooperative moon-raising challenge and speed stacking.

Special performances will be held at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day of the event, featuring a taekwondo show by the North Gyeongsang Province Athletic Association's Dokdo Love Sports Performance Team, as well as flute and pop opera acts.

From Wednesday through Sunday, three-generation families — including foreign visitors — will receive free admission, as will individuals wearing hanbok or traditional costumes from any country.
