More than 50 volunteer crime-prevention units nationwide have adopted the LTE walkie-talkie 'Radger'
Idis Powertel announced Tuesday that it supplied its LTE walkie-talkie "Radger" to a skills competition organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government Volunteer Crime Prevention Federation on Saturday.
Volunteer crime-prevention units are community service organizations formed by residents to promote local safety. The event brought together members from all 25 autonomous districts of Seoul.
Idis Powertel provided Radger walkie-talkies to federation staff and event coordinators to help run the outdoor gathering. Members said they experienced clear, uninterrupted radio communication — a key advantage of LTE walkie-talkies, which have no dead zones.
Walkie-talkies are an essential communication tool for volunteer crime-prevention patrols. The enactment of the Volunteer Crime Prevention Unit Act in 2023 established a legal basis for operational and equipment support, and a subsequent Korean National Police Agency notice officially designated walkie-talkies as standard gear for such units. As a result, volunteer groups across the country have consistently adopted integrated radio systems, with more than 50 units nationwide now using the Radger.
Idis Powertel highlights the Radger's use of KT Corp's LTE base stations, which enables clear, sharp communication without dead zones. The device also features GPS location tracking, emergency broadcast and a whistle function, making it effective for ensuring member safety and enabling rapid on-scene response.
"We will continue to support field-optimized radio solutions so that volunteer crime-prevention units can carry out their activities more safely and effectively," said Kim Young-dal, chief executive of Idis Powertel.
Meanwhile, Idis Powertel offers a lineup that includes the Radger, the slim-profile Radger Light 3 and its flagship model, the Radger +20.
