Singer Lin cheers on Kim Da-hyun amid Shim Su-bong controversy: 'Queen of emotion'

Singer Lin, 44, has publicly shown her support for Kim Da-hyun, 17.

On Tuesday, Lin left a comment on Kim Da-hyun's social media post, writing: "Our Da-hyun is the absolute best ♥ You're the queen of emotion who makes your unni cry every single time — I love you, Kim Da-hyun!"

Kim Da-na and Solji also liked Kim Da-hyun's post, offering comfort to the younger artist.

The show of support came after veteran singer Shim Su-bong, 71, sparked controversy Sunday by publicly criticizing Kim Da-hyun's performance at the Jinan Highland Trot Music Festival in Jinan-gun, North Jeolla Province.

Shim referred to Kim Da-hyun, who had performed before her, only as "the woman who sang up there."

Clutching her head, Shim said the performance had left her dizzy and asked whether the younger singer's manager was in the audience. "She seems like a young lady who doesn't know what singing is, what life is," she said. "It was so hard to listen to."

She went on to say, "Please don't send that performer on before me. I feel completely dizzy and like I'm about to collapse," adding, "Singing is not something you do so carelessly."

"Music that comforts the people who have come to see you — having lived life, having gone through hardship — is not easy," she said. "I was so distressed that I had no choice but to confess this to you all. Please forgive me."

After facing a wave of public criticism, Shim issued an official statement Tuesday saying she "did not know exactly who the singer performing before me was" and that her remarks "were absolutely not intended to humiliate any specific person." She also extended "a deep apology to Kim Da-hyun and her family."

Kim Da-hyun also posted on social media the same day, writing that she had spoken directly with Shim by phone and that Shim had personally apologized, offered encouragement and given her warm words of comfort.
