A police officer in his 30s has been referred to prosecutors on charges of having sex with an intoxicated teenage girl after drinking with her in Busan.
The Busan Yeonje Police Station said Monday it had forwarded the officer, identified only as A, to prosecutors without detention on charges including quasi-rape.
According to police, A allegedly drank with the teenage girl at a busy commercial district in Busan on July 11 before taking her to his home and having sex with her while she was intoxicated.
However, the two sides have given conflicting accounts over whether A knew the victim was a minor at the time.
The victim's side maintains that A was aware of her age, while A has stated he did not know she was a minor.
A has continued to deny the charges. Police relieved him of his duties following the incident.
