Chu Ka-eun wins women's 10m air pistol gold, S. Korea's first at Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games

Chu Ka-eun, 25, claimed gold at her first Asian Games appearance.

Chu topped a field of eight in the women's 10m air pistol individual final at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Wednesday, posting 246.3 points at the Aichi Prefecture General Shooting Range in Japan.

Her score broke the previous Asian record set by Japan's Konishi Yukari in 2017 by 1.0 point, giving South Korea its first shooting gold of the Games.

China's Shen Yiyao took silver with 241.3 points, while compatriot Zhang Lanxin claimed bronze with 221.6 points.

It was the first time a South Korean athlete had won gold in the women's 10m air pistol individual event at the Asian Games since Kim Yun-mi at the 2010 Guangzhou Games — a gap of 16 years.

Chu had already set an Asian Games record with 582 points in the qualification round, which also served as the team event. She then combined with Oh Ye-jin of Industrial Bank of Korea and Kim Bo-mi of the Busan city team to win team silver, leaving the Games with two medals.
