Lee Jong-jun, Jang Guk-hee win silver in mixed skeet team event

South Korean shooters Lee Jong-jun (South Chungcheong Province Sports Council) and Jang Guk-hee (KT Corp) claimed silver in the mixed team skeet event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

The pair scored 51 points in Thursday's final at the Aichi Prefecture General Shooting Range, finishing one point behind China's Lu Jianlin and Zhang Yiting, who took gold with 52 points. It was South Korea's first medal in the mixed team skeet event at the Asian Games.

South Korea had advanced to the final in second place with a combined qualifying score of 143 points, trailing Qatar's 145, and contested the gold medal against China until the end.

In the final, each shooter fired 12 rounds, with teams eliminated in order from last place. Qatar was knocked out first, after which China led with 45 points while South Korea and India were tied at 44. South Korea advanced to the gold-medal round ahead of India on their qualifying ranking.

Trailing 44-45 heading into the final round, Lee hit all four of his shots, but Jang missed one, leaving the pair at 51 points. China's Lu also missed one shot, but Zhang hit all four of hers to give China the gold with 52 points.

Also on Thursday, Hong Su-hyeon (Gangwon Province Office) narrowly missed the podium in the men's 10m air pistol event. Hong qualified for the final in eighth place with a score of 581 in the preliminary round, then shot 198.4 in the final to finish fourth. Uzbekistan's Vladimir Svechnikov took gold with an Asian Games record of 244.3 points, while China's Hu Kai (243.0) and Bu Shuaihang (222.1) claimed silver and bronze, respectively.

Hong had been considered a strong medal contender after winning bronze at last year's World Championships and gold at the Munich World Cup in May, but he could not close a gap that opened early in the final.
