Kim Gura says his golf YouTube channel earned up to W40m a month

Broadcaster Kim Gura revealed that his YouTube channel has brought in as much as 40 million won ($29,400) in a single month.

A video titled "A comedian who struck it big after treating a real estate boss to a meal?" was posted Friday on the YouTube channel "Geurigura."

Comedian Mickey Gwangsu, appearing as a guest, described his own YouTube channel, saying, "My channel has long watch times and a loyal audience, so even if we both get 100,000 views, mine performs a bit differently from another channel's 100,000 views."

He added that his YouTube earnings alone had topped 10 million won in a single month.

Kim Gura then mentioned his golf channel, which has around 370,000 subscribers, saying, "Ppeokkugi Golf was the same. At its peak, it was pulling in anywhere from 30 million to 40 million won."

Upon hearing this, real estate analyst Kim In-man said, "Then you could just do YouTube full time," to which Mickey Gwangsu replied, "It's not that easy — ideas start to dry up, and staying up all night editing wears you out."
