Actor Choi Su-jong loses mother on Chuseok

Actor Choi Su-jong, 63, lost his mother on Chuseok, the Korean autumn harvest holiday. For his wife, actor Ha Hee-ra, 56, it is the loss of her mother-in-law.

According to his agency, Wellmade Holdings, Choi's mother, Lee Suk-kyung, died Friday at the age of 89.

A memorial altar has been set up at VIP Room No. 1 of the Severance Hospital funeral home at Yonsei University in Seoul. Choi and Ha are keeping vigil at the altar alongside family members.

Condolence visits are open from 1 p.m. Saturday. The funeral procession will depart at 8 a.m. Tuesday, with burial at Yongin Pyeonon-ui Sup and Yongin Rodem Park in Yongin.

Choi made his debut in 1987 in the KBS drama series "Sarangi Kkotpineun Namu." He went on to become one of South Korea's most beloved actors through a string of hit series, including "Cheotsarang," "Adeulgwa Ttal," "Jiltu," "Hanappunin Nae Pyeon" and "Goryeo-Georan Jeonjaeng."

Choi and Ha married in 1993 and have a son and a daughter. The couple is widely regarded as one of the entertainment industry's most devoted pairs.
