Kwon Mina reveals mother's cardiac arrest, reigniting feud with sister

Kwon Mina, a former member of girl group AOA, has shared news of her mother's critical condition and asked fans to pray for her.

On Sunday, Kwon posted a photo with her mother on Instagram, writing, "I'm sorry, my beautiful mom. Please pray for her." She said her mother had suffered a cardiac arrest and expressed anger at her older sister, whom she said she had been unable to reach.

No further details about her mother's condition or subsequent developments have been made public.

Kwon had previously gone public about a financial dispute with her older sister on Sept. 4, claiming the sister had taken money from her, her mother and a friend of her mother's — with the combined losses totaling between 700 million and 800 million won ($588,000). She also said she had been out of contact with her sister for several years.

At the time, Kwon wrote, "I had known for a long time that my sister had embezzled money. All I needed was one sincere word of apology or acknowledgment."

She added that she only grasped the full extent of the situation after discovering that her mother's assets, her own separate bank accounts and money she had given to her mother had all disappeared.

Kwon said she would pursue legal action against her sister on charges including fraud and forgery of private documents if no apology was forthcoming. These are Kwon's unilateral claims, and her sister's position has not been confirmed.

The two sisters' conflict first became public in 2021, when Kwon also claimed they were at odds over financial matters including taxes and project funds.

Kwon debuted with AOA in 2012 and left the group in 2019.
