Measures include exemptions from second-stage competition for asphalt concrete, pay-per-bag garbage bags
The Public Procurement Service said Monday it will extend through year-end temporary stabilization measures for goods heavily affected by oil prices, which had been set to expire at the end of this month.
The extension comes as high oil prices triggered by the war in the Middle East show no signs of easing. The measures cover asphalt concrete, which is highly sensitive to oil price fluctuations, and pay-per-bag garbage bags, a staple of daily life.
In March, the agency exempted both products from the second stage of multi-supplier contract competition to speed up deliveries, and relaxed price adjustment requirements so that rises in raw materials costs could be reflected in product prices immediately.
"We will ensure the procurement market operates stably even amid uncertain domestic and external conditions, and allow businesses to focus on their operations with confidence," said Baek Ho-seong, director general of the purchasing projects bureau.
