Program runs through Dec. 31; monthly cashback capped at 50,000 won per person
Yeoncheon-gun in Gyeonggi Province is running a 5% cashback promotion on purchases made with Yeoncheon Love gift cards at designated budget-friendly stores through Dec. 31, aimed at stabilizing local prices and encouraging residents to patronize participating businesses.
The county launched the event to boost foot traffic at stores that have kept prices low despite high inflation, while also stimulating local consumption and revitalizing the regional economy, the county said Tuesday.
During the promotion, customers who pay with Yeoncheon Love gift cards at any of the 22 participating budget-friendly stores in the county will automatically receive a 5% cashback on their purchase — no separate application required. The cashback applies only to payments made with standard charged funds and excludes policy allowances such as rural basic income payments. The monthly cashback limit is 50,000 won ($37) per person.
For example, a customer who spends 100,000 won in standard charged funds at a participating store will receive 5,000 won back as cashback. The cashback is applied first when making subsequent Yeoncheon Love gift card payments and is valid for three months from the date of issuance.
"We hope this additional discount event will meaningfully help boost the use of budget-friendly stores that offer quality services at reasonable prices, and contribute to stabilizing local prices," said Park Seung-ho, head of the county's economy and transportation division. "We encourage residents to take advantage of the Yeoncheon Love gift card benefits and actively participate in revitalizing the local economy."
Budget-friendly stores are businesses designated and operated by the Ministry of Interior and Safety and local governments that contribute to price stability by providing quality services at rates below the prevailing market price. Residents can find the full list and locations of participating stores in the county through the Gyeonggi Regional Currency app or the budget-friendly stores website.
