More than 20 hands-on booths promise a full sensory experience for the whole family
Yeongdeungpo-gu will host its "Infant Forest Family Festival" starting at 4 p.m. Saturday at the lawn of Yeongdeungpo Park.
Held under the theme "Let's Gather in the Fun Forest," the festival is designed to give children a space to run and play freely while parents relax and create lasting memories together.
The program is packed with hands-on activities to engage all five of children's senses. An opening performance — featuring a magic show, balloon acts and a smoke cannon — will kick things off and capture the attention of young visitors. Alongside this, more than 20 experience booths will operate under themes including "garden prescriptions," "family-friendly activities" and "climate change and eco-friendliness," offering something for every member of the family.
Key programs include "Color the Autumn Light" and "Amazing Insect Magnifier," which let children explore nature through all five senses; "Little Forest Doctor" and "Bounce Along the Rubber Band," which build family teamwork; a four-leaf clover hunt in the grass; and a nature experience using horse chestnut shells.
A standout activity is "Make Your Own Family Planter," where parents and children fill a pot with soil together and plant a flower to create a planter full of personal meaning. A panel of horticulture experts will judge the finished planters and award certificates to the top five teams, making the experience all the more memorable.
Next to the main venue, a Seoul-style kids' cafe will also operate at the circular plaza, featuring an air bounce and traditional folk game experiences to give children even more room to play and enjoy the festival.
No advance registration is required — anyone is welcome to visit the lawn at Yeongdeungpo Park and enjoy the festival freely. The "Make Your Own Family Planter" activity is the sole exception: spots must be reserved in advance on a first-come, first-served basis through the Seoul Metropolitan Government's public service reservation website.
"Forests and gardens in the heart of the city are the finest playground and classroom for children," Yeongdeungpo-gu District Mayor Jo Yu-jin said. "On a cool autumn day, I hope every family comes to Yeongdeungpo Park and takes home memories they will never forget."
