Actor Hwang Jung-min files additional complaint against woman convicted of stalking him

Actor Hwang Jung-min has filed an additional criminal complaint against a woman in her 40s, identified only as A, who was convicted of stalking him and fined. The complaint centers on A's alleged disclosure of Hwang's personal information on SNS during the trial — conduct his side considers a further act of stalking.

Hwang's representatives recently submitted the additional complaint against A, according to Star News. The filing takes issue with A's decision to post online personal details about Hwang that she learned through the legal proceedings.

A was previously indicted on charges of repeatedly contacting and approaching Hwang against his expressed wishes.

The Goyang Branch of Uijeongbu District Court found A guilty on Sept. 8 of violating the Stalking Punishment Act and other charges, sentencing her to a fine of 6 million won ($4,440) and ordering her to complete a 40-hour stalking treatment program.

Prosecutors had originally sought a summary indictment with a fine of 3 million won, but A contested the charge and requested a formal trial — only to receive a stiffer penalty of 6 million won from the court of first instance. A has since appealed that ruling.

Separately, the two parties are also engaged in civil litigation.

A filed a damages lawsuit seeking about 200 million won, claiming Hwang had proposed business ventures involving alcohol and creative projects, that she carried out related work, and that she was never properly compensated.

Hwang's side has denied A's claims, maintaining that her persistent contact and approach caused him harm. His representatives have also said they would pursue legal action over personal information A disclosed through SNS, describing the content as either false or maliciously edited.

With the appeal of the original stalking case, the 200-million-won damages suit, and now the additional complaint over the disclosure of personal information all proceeding simultaneously, the legal battle between the two is expected to continue for some time.

Since July, A has been posting on SNS claiming a personal relationship with Hwang and releasing what she says are messages and recordings exchanged between them. Hwang's agency has flatly denied her claims, saying they do not reflect the facts.
