UFC to hold Fight Night in Sydney next year for first time in a decade

UFC will return to Sydney, Australia, for a Fight Night event for the first time in a decade.

The promotion announced it will hold UFC Fight Night Sydney at Afterpay Arena — formerly Qudos Bank Arena — in Sydney on Feb. 7, 2027. Organized in partnership with the New South Wales government, the event will be the first UFC Fight Night held in Sydney since 2017.

While Sydney has recently hosted several numbered UFC events, a Fight Night card has not taken place there in 10 years. UFC has staged events in New South Wales for four consecutive years since 2023, continuing its push into the Australian market.

UFC 325: Volkanovski vs. Lopez 2, held at the same venue earlier this year, sold out and set a new gate record. According to UFC, all three events held in Sydney since 2023 sold out and generated a combined economic impact of nearly A$200 million (190 billion won).

Peter Klotsko, UFC's executive vice president for Australia and New Zealand, said he was "thrilled to be returning to Sydney" for UFC Fight Night next February, adding that "UFC events have quickly become a cornerstone of Sydney's annual sporting calendar."

New South Wales Minister for Employment and Tourism Steve Kamper also expressed enthusiasm, saying UFC Fight Night was returning to Sydney for the first time in nearly a decade.

The fight card and athlete lineup have not yet been announced. UFC said it plans to hold fan events during fight week, including open workouts, a press conference and the official weigh-in.
