Third store to open at Gwangyang LF Square Mall on Friday
The Marsala, a casual Indian food brand, will open its third location at LF Square Mall in Gwangyang, South Jeolla Province, on Friday.
The brand started in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, then expanded to Busan and now Gwangyang, with plans to accelerate its growth by positioning itself as a destination for casual Indian dining accessible to everyone.
Indian cuisine in South Korea has long been perceived as a fine-dining or multi-course affair — unfamiliar and relatively expensive. In response, The Marsala has reimagined signature Indian dishes such as curry and tandoori chicken into more familiar formats, including curry rice, fried rice and stir-fried noodles.
The approachable menu has resonated with customers. The brand's second location, at Lotte Department Store's Gwangbok branch in Busan, earned a Naver visitor rating of 4.95 out of 5.
The new Gwangyang store is intended to give LF Square Mall shoppers a relaxed, low-barrier introduction to Indian food.
"Indian food doesn't have to be something you eat only on special occasions or something unfamiliar and intimidating — it can be something anyone enjoys as part of everyday life," a company official said. "We will lead the popularization of Indian cuisine through friendly, comfortable casual dining."
