Running Thursday through Sunday at Achasan Eoulim Plaza, the four-day "Achasan Forest and Rest" event features reading zones, a family film screening, singing bowl yoga, puppy yoga and a forest concert — all free and open to residents.
Gwangjin-gu will host a four-day outdoor library event called "Achasan Forest and Rest" at Achasan Eoulim Plaza from Thursday through Sunday.
The event was designed to let residents unwind and enjoy reading against the backdrop of Achasan, known for its natural scenery. Each of the four days will feature its own distinct lineup of programs, offering visitors a range of cultural experiences.
On Thursday, a "Reading Club Festival" will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with club experience booths, a fab library, a mobile library called "Library Damas," and a community reading initiative called "One Book with Gwangjin."
On Friday evening starting at 7 p.m., a forest cinema will screen "The Secret Life of Pets 2," rated for all ages, on a large outdoor screen with camping chairs. Advance online registration was required, but walk-ins will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for up to 20 additional moviegoers on the day of the screening.
Over the holiday weekend on Saturday and Sunday, the outdoor library will operate from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors can read freely in beanbag zones, camping zones, book-basket areas and parasol spaces stocked with more than 500 titles. The program also includes an outdoor reading recital, transcription sessions, eco-bag making, beaded bookmark crafting and a forest concert.
Alongside this, special programs — singing bowl yoga, puppy yoga and urban sketching — will also be available. Residents wishing to join the special programs can register in advance on the Gwangjin Information Library website. "We prepared this event so that residents can read and relax in the nature of Achasan during the October holiday, when cool autumn breezes are in the air," Gwangjin-gu District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said.
