Korea Gas Corporation, power exchange operator sign MOU to share real-time energy data

Korea Gas Corporation and the Korea Power Exchange have agreed to strengthen cooperation for the stable operation of critical energy infrastructure, including sharing operational data in real time.

The two organizations signed an MOU on building a cooperative framework for energy critical infrastructure at the Korea Power Exchange headquarters in Naju, South Jeolla Province, on Tuesday.

The agreement aims to contribute to the government's national policy goal of building an energy highway and to reinforce energy security by deepening the cooperative framework between public institutions.

Under the MOU, the two organizations will share real-time operational data on gas and electricity supply, establish a joint response framework for emergencies, and carry out technical exchanges between their respective grid and system operations staff.

They will also form a working-level consultative body on energy critical infrastructure cooperation to conduct periodic reviews of MOU implementation. Starting in October, the two sides will begin upgrading a supply-and-demand information system that links and visualizes power plant startup and shutdown data alongside gas supply pressure in real time.

"Korea Gas Corporation and the Korea Power Exchange will build an AI- and data-driven integrated supply-and-demand management framework and become a reliable partner in enhancing the stability and flexibility of South Korea's energy system," Korea Gas Corporation President Hong Eui-rak said.

Korea Power Exchange Chairman Kim Sung-jin said he expects the two organizations, as energy partners, to contribute to people's daily lives and the national economy through the stable supply of electricity and gas.
