Comedian Park Mi-sun says she's not cured: 'I'm extending my life six months at a time'

Comedian Park Mi-sun said she continues to monitor her health through regular follow-up examinations after battling breast cancer.

A video titled "'I worried about my show before the cancer diagnosis' — Park Mi-sun opens up about a year of treatment" was posted Tuesday on the YouTube channel "Lee Seong-mi's I'm a Fuddy-Duddy."

In the video, host Lee Seong-mi brought up Park's cancer battle, saying many people had been curious about her condition.

Park said the hardest question she gets asked is whether she has been fully cured. "As someone who has also fought cancer, you'd understand — the most awkward question is, 'So you're completely cured now, right?' I never know how to answer," she said. "The truth is, it's not a full cure. I have to keep getting tested and managing my health carefully. I usually just say, 'I've gotten healthier.'"

Park said she undergoes follow-up scans every six months after completing roughly 10 months of treatment. "I had a bone scan and a full-body scan. I felt so good that I thought everything would be fine," she said. "But when I went to hear the results, I was a little nervous. Even though I felt well and thought it would be OK, the waiting was nerve-racking."

She went on to say, "When the doctor said, 'Everything looks great,' I felt like I could fly that day. The moment I heard the results, I thought, 'I get to live another six months.' That's how I keep extending my life."

Park was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2024 and began treatment in January 2025. After about a year of treatment, she recently resumed her career through variety programs and radio appearances.
