Hyundai Motor launches home EV charger subscription service 'MyHomeCharger'

Hyundai Motor announced Wednesday that it has launched "MyHomeCharger," a home electric vehicle charger subscription service developed in partnership with charging operator Chaevi.

The service is open to any owner of a Hyundai or Genesis electric vehicle who lives in a single-family or row house with a dedicated parking space.

Subscribers receive a 7-kilowatt slow-speed home EV charger along with coverage of device and installation costs.

The minimum monthly contracted charge is 300 kilowatt-hours at a rate of 245 won per kilowatt-hour, meaning customers pay just 73,500 won ($54) a month at the minimum contracted amount — with no upfront device or installation fees.

Customers who use the service at the minimum contracted amount for three years can save about 670,000 won compared with Hyundai Motor's existing home charger product, and about 1.53 million won compared with using Chaevi's external fast chargers.

Once the contract period ends, customers take ownership of the charger with no return process or additional costs.

Those wishing to sign up can register through the Chaevi app or website and verify ownership of a Hyundai or Genesis electric vehicle.

A site inspection is then conducted to install the charger, and customers can begin charging immediately after a safety check.

In addition, customers can track charging history, usage, remaining contracted charge and other information through the dedicated Chaevi app.

"The home EV charger subscription service — covering the device, installation and charging for around 70,000 won a month — will be the most economical charging option available to electric vehicle customers," a Hyundai Motor official said. "We expect it to ease the burden of EV charging and contribute to the wider adoption of electric vehicles and the expansion of charging infrastructure."

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor has been actively working to expand the EV ecosystem — most recently opening the "Nürburgring N Fast Charging Station" at the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany in March under its high-performance brand Hyundai N.
