Korean Air, Asiana Airlines take career talks directly to schools

Korean Air and Asiana Airlines held an aviation career lecture at a school that applied through the airlines' official social media accounts, with employees from both carriers visiting the campus in person.

The Korean Air-Asiana Airlines Education Donation Volunteer Corps said Wednesday it conducted the career lecture Tuesday afternoon for about 60 fifth- and sixth-grade students at Jangchon Elementary School in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

Unlike previous programs, in which schools were selected through partner organizations or chosen directly by the airlines, this initiative accepted applications via the two carriers' official Instagram accounts and selected the visiting school based on those submissions.

A Korean Air flight crew member and an Asiana Airlines cabin crew member served as mentors at the lecture. The two mentors shared firsthand stories from their time in the air, walked students through the steps needed to enter each profession, and offered practical tips — all tailored to an elementary school audience. A question-and-answer session followed, giving students a chance to address questions they had long wondered about and form a clearer picture of what a career in aviation might look like.

The volunteer corps said it plans to continue expanding its outreach channels to deliver tailored educational programs and take a leading role in nurturing the next generation of aviation professionals.

"This event was a meaningful opportunity to listen to voices from the field and visit in person to share positive energy with the next generation," a Korean Air official said. "We will keep encouraging children's dreams through the voluntary contributions of our employees and continue spreading warmth throughout local communities."

Meanwhile, Korean Air has been carrying out a range of corporate social responsibility activities, including a chuseok meal-service volunteer event held recently with Asiana Airlines and Korean Air C&D Service at a senior welfare center in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.
