Incheon to hold Citizens' Day festival, first major event under new city administration

Incheon Metropolitan City will hold its first Citizens' Day festival since Park Chan-dae took office as the city's eighth directly elected mayor.

The city will host the 62nd Citizens' Day Grand Festival at Eoulmun Square in Incheon Grand Park on Oct. 10.

The event will feature a wide range of cultural programs for all generations and social backgrounds, and will serve as the occasion for the official unveiling of a new governance slogan reflecting the administration's vision.

The day kicks off at 11 a.m. with a wind ensemble performance and traditional folk arts on a pre-show stage.

Throughout the day, visitors can take part in hands-on programs for the whole family, including crafts, fine arts and upcycling workshops.

Starting at 3 p.m., an orchestra and choir will take the stage for a civic cultural arts festival.

City policy booths on the grounds will offer residents a chance to learn about lifestyle-focused initiatives covering the environment, caregiving and tourism, as well as hands-on activities including AI-generated image creation, VR and drone experiences, and CPR training.

The main ceremony begins at 6 p.m. with the presentation of the 48th Incheon Metropolitan City Citizens' Award, honoring individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the community.

A celebratory concert follows, featuring vocalists Park Ki-young and Lee Seok-hoon, who will set the mood for an autumn evening. The night closes with a drone light show illuminating the sky as the festival's grand finale.

The city has designated Oct. 10 through Oct. 24 — a 15-day span — as "Citizens' Happiness Week," during which cultural, arts, tourism and sports events will be held across the city. Incheon residents will also receive discounts at designated accommodation, tourism and cultural facilities.
