S&C Restaurant Holdings, the Korean operator of Chipotle, announced Wednesday the launch of its official "Chipotle Korea" app, which provides a pickup ordering service.
Chipotle opened its first Asian location near Gangnam Station in Seoul on Sept. 2, drawing strong interest. Lines stretched more than 100 meters before the doors opened on the first day, and large crowds have continued to visit a month later.
The app allows customers to order ahead and collect their food at a designated pickup counter at a time of their choosing, with pickup slots available in 10-minute increments.
The in-store order queue and the pickup counter will be kept separate, which the company expects will reduce congestion inside the store.
"We hope the launch of the official app will allow customers to enjoy Chipotle's customization experience and local flavors more quickly and conveniently," an S&C official said.
S&C is a joint venture established by Chipotle and Big Bite Company, an affiliate of Sangmidang Holdings. The company plans to open a second and third location in South Korea before the end of the year and to enter the Singapore market in the first half of next year.
