South Korea's women's EMC archery team falls to India by 1 point, heads to bronze-medal match

South Korea's women's EMC archery team fell to defending champion India by a single point Wednesday, failing to reclaim the Asian Games title for the first time in eight years.

The South Korean trio of Kang Yeon-seo, Park Jeong-yun and Park Ye-rin lost to India 233-234 in the women's EMC team archery semifinal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, held at the multipurpose plaza of Okazaki Central General Park in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

With their path to the final blocked, South Korea will face Taiwan in the bronze-medal match. Taiwan lost its semifinal to China 229-230.

South Korea tied the first end 59-59 but managed only 56 points in the second end, falling behind 115-118. The team rallied in the third end, hitting all six arrows for a perfect score of 60 to close the gap to one point at 175-176. In the final end, however, both teams shot 58 points, leaving South Korea unable to erase the deficit.

South Korea's women's EMC team won the inaugural gold medal when the team event was introduced at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games and successfully defended the title at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games.

At the 2022 Hangzhou Games, the team lost in the semifinals to Taiwan before settling for bronze. A semifinal loss to India this time ended their bid to reclaim the top spot for the first time since 2018.
