South Korea's women's EMC archery team wins consecutive Asian Games bronze

South Korea's women's EMC archery team edged Taiwan by a single point Wednesday to claim bronze at the Asian Games for the second consecutive time, also avenging a semifinal loss to Taiwan at the previous Hangzhou Games.

Kang Yeon-seo, Park Jeong-yun and Park Ye-rin defeated Taiwan 229-228 in the women's EMC team bronze-medal match at the Multipurpose Plaza of Okazaki Central General Park in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

South Korea opened with a perfect first end, landing all six arrows in the 10-point ring to lead 60-59, and maintained a one-point advantage through the second end at 118-117. Taiwan pulled level at 173-173 after the third end, outscoring Korea 56-55.

The match came down to the final arrow. With South Korea posting 56 points in the fourth end, Taiwan's Huang Yi-rou shot an 8 on her last arrow, sealing Korea's 229-228 victory.

The win settled a score from the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, where Taiwan had eliminated South Korea in the semifinals. Korea had gone on to beat Indonesia 232-229 for bronze that day, and repeated the feat in Aichi to secure back-to-back bronze medals.

South Korea's women's EMC team had won back-to-back gold medals at the 2014 Incheon and 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games. At this year's tournament, the team fell short of reclaiming the top spot for the first time in eight years after losing to India 233-234 in the semifinals, but closed out the women's team competition with bronze by defeating Taiwan.
