BTS's RM donates W100m to National Museum of Korea for artifact acquisitions

BTS member RM has donated 100 million won ($73,600) to the National Museum of Korea, continuing his support for culture and the arts alongside his role as the museum's global ambassador. The funds will go toward acquiring new items for the museum's collection.

The National Museum of Korea announced that RM, whose full name is Kim Nam-jun, donated the 100 million won to the National Museum of Korea Association, the museum's supporting organization. RM took on the role of global ambassador for the National Museum of Korea in June.

RM delivered the donation to the association on Tuesday. The association will use the funds to purchase artifacts and donate them to the museum.

"I am delighted to be able to support the museum as its global ambassador," RM said. "I will continue to work alongside the museum to promote Korean culture."

The National Museum of Korea Association carries out artifact acquisitions, academic support and facility development projects. It previously purchased a Joseon-era mother-of-pearl lacquer box with lotus vine patterns in 2023 and a cursive-script calligraphy work by Joseon master calligrapher Hwang Gi-ro in 2024, donating both to the museum.

"RM's continued support for culture and the arts will further raise awareness of our cultural heritage and the museum," the museum said. "The National Museum of Korea will respond in kind through its exhibitions and projects."
