Ministry of Interior and Safety opens month-long public contest for 7th Open Government Action Plan
The Ministry of Interior and Safety announced Wednesday that it will hold a public contest to gather citizen proposals for the 7th Open Government Action Plan, running from Thursday through Oct. 31.
The Open Government Action Plan is a national action plan jointly developed by governments and civil society organizations of member states of the Open Government Partnership (OGP), an international consultative body, with goals that include improving transparency, expanding public participation and combating corruption.
The ministry is conducting the contest to incorporate public proposals into the 7th Open Government Action Plan, which will cover the period from July 2027 to June 2031.
The contest focuses on three areas — anti-corruption, public participation and digital governance — and participants are free to submit a wide range of ideas aimed at enhancing government transparency and accountability.
Submissions will be accepted online from Thursday through Oct. 31. Details on how to participate are available via a QR code on the official information poster.
Submitted proposals will be reviewed and deliberated by the Korea Open Government Committee, a public-private consultative body, before being refined into specific policy tasks. The resulting proposals will then be used to develop the 7th Open Government Action Plan through joint discussions between the government and civil society.
Vice Minister of Interior and Safety Kim Min-jae, government co-chair of the Korea Open Government Committee, said open government is "a process of listening to the voices of the people and working together with civil society to find a better path forward." He added that the ministry would "broadly collect valuable ideas from the public through this contest and faithfully reflect them in the 7th Open Government Action Plan, building an open government that people can feel in their daily lives."
