US chipmaker Micron Technology shattered its own quarterly earnings record in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026.
Micron said Wednesday (local time) that revenue for the fiscal fourth quarter, covering June through August, reached $54.23 billion — nearly five times the figure from the same period last year. The result surpassed the prior quarter's $41.46 billion by 30.8 percent and cleared the $51.07 billion consensus estimate compiled by the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG).
By segment, the data center division — driven by demand for AI servers and high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips — led growth with $18 billion in sales, more than 11 times the year-earlier figure. The cloud memory segment followed at $16.28 billion, with the mobile and client segment at $13.11 billion and the automotive and embedded segment at $6.82 billion.
The record quarter also lifted Micron's full-year results for fiscal 2026 (September 2025–August 2026) to an all-time high. Annual revenue came in at $133.19 billion, a 256 percent increase from last year.
Adjusted earnings per share for the quarter reached $33.42, topping Wall Street's expectation of $31.61. "We expect even stronger performance in fiscal year 2027," CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said. For the first quarter of fiscal 2027 (September 2026–August 2027), Micron guided revenue of $61.5 billion and EPS of $38.15, both above Wall Street's forecasts of $57 billion and $35.40.
Mehrotra said AI is evolving into superintelligence and that memory chips further strengthen both that intelligence and customers' platform competitiveness. He added that "strategic customer agreements" — under which customers commit in advance to fixed memory purchase volumes — give Micron greater confidence in the sustainability of its financial performance.
Micron ranks third in the HBM market behind South Korean memory chip rivals Samsung Electronics and SK hynix. Its market capitalization stands at $1.2 trillion. The share price was little changed during regular trading Wednesday but rose about 1.6 percent in after-hours trading immediately following the earnings release, hovering around $1,082 as of 4:30 p.m. Eastern time (5:30 a.m. Thursday Korean Standard Time).
