Yongsan-gu Holds Joint Training Workshop to Strengthen Ban Chief Capabilities

Yongsan-gu in Seoul held a joint training workshop Wednesday aimed at strengthening the capabilities of its ban chiefs, gathering participants at sites across Yeoju in Gyeonggi Province.

The workshop, titled "Yongsan-gu Ban Chiefs United Through Communication and Harmony," was organized to promote exchange and communication among ban chiefs and boost morale. More than 140 ban chiefs from 16 dong districts took part.

Participants toured cultural and ecological attractions around Yeoju, including the Royal Tomb of King Sejong, enjoying leisure activities along the way. They then received briefings on the district's key administrative priorities and attended training sessions on the duties and roles of ban chiefs. Interactive programs, including a quiz show, gave participants time to communicate and bond with one another.

"It was meaningful to be able to talk and spend time with ban chiefs from other dong districts, people I rarely get to meet during our day-to-day activities," one participating ban chief said. "It was a good opportunity to reflect on my duties and recharge."

Ban chiefs serve as a bridge between residents and local government, conveying community voices from the ground level of daily life. The district said it plans to continue offering a range of training and morale-boosting programs to help ban chiefs carry out their duties effectively.

Yongsan-gu District Mayor Kim Kyung-dae said he hoped the workshop gave participants "a chance to step away briefly from daily routines, find renewed energy, and gain something useful for carrying out their duties." He added that the district would "actively support ban chief activities so that voices from the field are well reflected in the process of building Yongsan into an attractive city that opens the future."
