See friends' travel stays on an interactive map
Users control what they share
Neighborhood overviews capture local vibe
Conversational search finds stays and experiences
AI filters let users search by condition in one step
Airbnb on Thursday unveiled its "2026 Fall Update," introducing a friend recommendation map, generative AI search, and expanded host management tools. The update also includes new service categories set to launch by year's end.
The new friend recommendation feature is built around an interactive map. Users can connect with family, friends, and people they have traveled with on Airbnb, and the platform will suggest potential connections based on past travel history. Once connected, users can see each other's visited and upcoming destinations on the map, along with the stays, experiences, and reviews their connections have left. Listings can be saved to a wish list or shared via in-app messages. Users control which trips appear on the map and what information is visible — any trip can be hidden or deleted at any time, and individual users can be blocked. Tapping a specific area on the map pulls up a neighborhood overview covering the local atmosphere, dining options, transportation, and popular experiences offered by local hosts.
Airbnb has integrated conversational generative AI into the search and listing-selection process, allowing users to find stays, experiences, and services in a single query typed or spoken in natural language. An "AI filter" feature automatically surfaces relevant filters based on keywords — typing "baby," for example, brings up filters for cribs and playgrounds. Search results now display AI-generated listing summaries, and a side-by-side comparison tool for wish-listed properties has been added. AI-powered customer support chat is available in more than 50 languages, with voice support to follow. These AI features will roll out in the United States first before expanding to other markets.
New service categories will also be added by year's end. Restaurant food delivery will become available in select European cities, while grocery delivery — launched in the United States earlier this year — will expand to Europe. A laundry service through a partnership with Rinse will be offered in select US cities, and baby gear rentals through BabyQuip will be available in more than 60 US cities starting in November. Ski and snowboard equipment rentals will debut in the French Alps, and boat rentals will launch in South Florida.
Host management tools have also been overhauled. A unified calendar lets hosts manage pricing, availability, cancellation policies, and discounts across multiple listings at once, and a new 3D floor plan feature displays the layout of each property. Later this fall, Airbnb will introduce "dynamic pricing," which automatically adjusts nightly rates based on daily demand and supply; hosts can update their price range at any time. An "AI earnings dashboard" will accompany the feature, analyzing host performance and suggesting actions to improve it.
Airbnb said it aims to cut the time users spend planning trips through the friend recommendation and AI features, while helping hosts focus more on operations with the new management tools.
